Abstract (EN)
In this study, alkaline, alkali-boron, leaded and leaded-alkaline glaze recipes were prepared according to Seger Method and it was aimed to develop metallic appearance glaze in low temperature (1000 ℃) oxidizing and reducing firing atmosphere. Metal compounds such as silver nitrate (AgNO3), copper sulphate (CuSO4), copper carbonate (CuCO3), bismuth nitrate (Bi (NO3)3), iron sulfate (FeSO4), cadmium nitrate Cd(NO3)2 and cobalt chloride (CoCl2) were added to the glaze compositions in different proportions (2%-5%). The glazes fired at 1000 ℃ were cooled to 750 ℃ and reduced for 20 minutes. Glazed samples fired in both oxidizing and reducing atmosphere and some of them characterized by optical microscope (OM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM / EDS) and UV-Vis. Spectrophotometer in terms of surface appearance, color tone change, micromorphological and microstructural properties. Metallic glazes have different properties in terms of their physical and chemical composition, firing atmosphere, color and reflectance properties. While these secrets create textures that are compatible with the environment in modern or classic spaces, they can be a good complementary element in space design. Key Words: Metallic glaze, Firing atmosphere, Reduction, Optical properties
