Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine adult attachment styles related to smoking addiction, psychological well-being and mindfulness levels and the relationship between them, to determine their differences according to socio-demographic variables, and to reveal the mediating effect of psychological well-being and mindfulness in the relationship between attachment styles and smoking addiction. The research population consists of smokers over the age of 18 living in the Western Mediterranean region. Within the scope of the research, 590 smokers were reached. "Fagerström Nicotine Dependency Test", "Experiences in Close Relationships Inventory II-K", "Psychological Well-Being Scale", "Conscious Awareness Scale" and personal information form were used as data collection tools. Statistical analyzes of the data were made with SPSS 26.0 and Jamovi programs. In the research, reliability analyses, difference analyses, correlation and regression analyzes were carried out with the help of package programs. According to the research results, 22.4% of the participants are highly addicted to cigarettes. When the level of cigarette addiction and attachment styles, psychological well-being and conscious awareness levels are examined, there is a difference between the avoidant attachment behavior of individuals who are moderately and severely addicted to cigarettes compared to individuals who are mildly addicted to cigarettes. There is a positive relationship between the level of cigarette addiction and avoidant and anxious attachment, and a negative relationship between psychological well-being and conscious awareness. The level of avoidant and anxious attachment reduces the level of psychological well-being, and the decreasing level of psychological well-being increases the severity of cigarette addiction. Anxious attachment behavior decreases the level of conscious awareness, and the decreased level of conscious awareness increases the severity of addiction to cigarettes.
