Usage and research of silicon sheet in automotive industry

This study was carried to explain types of silicon steels, cold rolling and production of silicon steels, their properties and especially energy losses which occur during production and decreasing this energy loss examined. Also relationship between magnetic properties and thickness examined. It is detailed examined that usage areas of silicon steel sheet in automotive and their performance changes in electrical engines.Study composed of three main parts. In first part cold rolling process is examined entirely.In the second part, production methods of silicon steels, which is the most important in electrical steels, types, usage areas, chemical composites, magnetic properties and improvement of this characteristic have been discussed. In continue of second part electrical engine types and engine loss issues are mentioned.The third part allocated to experimental studies. At the first stage of this part three different steel sheets which have different composite, cold rolled and suitable for electric motor applications are taken from Erdemir, Ereğli and MGE Metal Company. After metallografic treatments are applied to these steel sheets, microstructures of the steels are compared with each other. Also comparing performance curves between different electric motors which are produced different silicon rate included steels one of these electric steel (CCR-6112) and used as magnetic component in serial electric engine at MAKO Company, can be found in this study.
