Slavery vs. enslavement: A black feminist analysis of the slavery in Toni Morrison's Beloved and Sula

This dissertation aims to discuss the reasons and consequences of the black slavery inthe continental America through a comparison of the enslavement of the Black people by theWhite hegemony and the symbolic enslavement of the Black female by her own communityas depicted in Beloved and Sula by Toni Morrison. It intends to exhibit how slavery works ondifferent levels-not only historical and factual but also symbolic-while it follows the samepattern in it processes of dehumanization.
