The relationship between classroom teacher's perceptions of student resistance behaviors and classroom communication skills

This study is conducted to reveal the relationship between classroom teachers' perceptions of student resistance behavior and classroom communication skills. 242 classroom teachers working in Idil ,district of Şırnak province , participated the study conducted in the relational scanning model and two different scales were used in study. In the study, personal information form, student resistance behavior scale consisting of 25 items and effective communication skills scale (EİBÖ) consisting of 34 items were used as data collection tools. The data were collected from 242 randomly determined classroom teachers working in İdil district of Şırnak province. T-test and Pearson correlation test were used in the analysis of the data obtained. As a result of the analysis, the resistance behavior perceptions and communication skills of the classroom teachers are determined at a high level. Classroom teachers' perceptions of resistance behavior do not differ significantly according to their gender, marital status, and whether they receive in-service training or not, while they differ significantly according to the variables of professional seniority, choosing the teaching profession, classroom management competence perception and combined classroom teaching status. While communication skills of classroom teachers do not differ significantly according to gender, professional seniority, marital status and in-service training status, they show a statistically significant difference according to the variables of satisfaction with the institution they work for, the status of choosing the teaching profession, the perception of classroom management competence, and the combined class schooling status. Consequently, It was determined that there is a significant negative relationship between the resistance behavior perceptions of classroom teachers and their communication skills.
