Abstract (EN)

Gender, and related issues are intertwined with each other as they are with biological sex. Although the number of studies on gender related topics has been increasing; the issue is still maintaining its importance. The aim of this study is to investigate how women and men react to gender-matched expressions (e.g., masculine males), cross-gender expressions (e.g., masculine females), and androgynous males and females. Most of the studies in the literature focused on negative attitudes towards feminine men. However, this study aims to broaden the literature on reactions toward different gender expressions and how people perceive these different expressions in regard to biological sex of a person. It is hypothesized that (1) women and men will evaluate masculine women more negatively than women expressing feminine and androgynous characteristics, (2) men and women will evaluate feminine men more negatively than men expressing masculine and androgynous characteristics, (3) men evaluate feminine men more negatively compared to women.
