Research of chromosome aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocyte culture of women with reproductive health exposure to sodium hypochlorite

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the genotoxic effects of human peripheral lymphocytes in vitro in places of reproductive age at the time of exposure to the effect of sodium hypochlorite. Material and Methods: Peripheral blood cultures from 155 healthy individuals were studied in vitro. In order to obtain chromosomes, lymphocyte tissue culture method known as whole blood technique was applied. Experimental, control and repetitive groups were examined and evaluated cytogenetically. Chromosome aberrations were examined under two headings as structural and numerical irregularities. There are a total of 13 variables under the title of structural and numerical irregularities. Our variables are metaphase number, chromatid gap, isochromatid gap, chromatid fracture, isochromatide fracture, deletion, duplication, fragment, endomitosis, endereoduplication, disentricity, association and other irregularities. Results: When we evaluated the total number of irregular cells with our data, it was found that increase in the irregular cell numbers of individuals exposed to Nathere was a significant OCl (p = 0,000). When the structural and numerical abberations of the individuals exposed to NaOCI were examined, it was observed that the structural and numerical irregularities increased significantly with the exposure to NaOCI (p = 0.000). The number of chromatid fractures, the most common structural disorder, was also increased with exposure (p = 0.000). Conclusion: We think that prolonged exposure to NaOCI can negatively affect chromosomes, triggering chromosome aberrations. When the literature is examined, it is important that no study on this subject has been performed in our country.
