Abstract (EN)
This MA Thesis reveals how Turkish intelligence?s fiction and understanding has changed after the end of the Second World War during the Cold War. It investigates the changes on Turkish intelligence organization after being allied with the United States and NATO membership was approved. This Thesis covers the history of Turkish intelligence system starting from the first Turk states till the foundation of National Security Services after the Independence War. All the events and developments that led to changes in Turkish intelligence setup presented very detailed that constitutes the main subject of this thesis.The study depends on the claim of the development of relations between the United States of America and Turkey and after the NATO membership was approved while the Turkish intelligence has been changed largely based on fiction the adoption of the concept of fighting communism. Turkey has become a key country due to have boundary with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. This makes Turkey very important for the United States. Turkey became closer against the threat of the Soviet Union with the United States. Turkish intelligence structure has been almost evolved with this relationship that depends on the security concerns. National Intelligence Agency and the Police Intelligence had been restructured. The Office of the Special Warfare has been established within the Turkish Armed Forces. Turkey conducted joint studies with the intelligence services of the United States and western countries during this period of time.Key Words: NSS, CIA, KGB, Office of Special Warfare, Inspector General Mobilization, National Intelligence Agency
