Abstract (EN)
The goal of the current thesis is to determine the condition of arts education given at Childcare Institutions and the status and significance of graffiti training given for the purposes of the study in the process of the rehabilitation of street children.At the beginning of the thesis, the concepts of education and arts education were explained and the phases were detailed through which the arts education in our country has passed so far.The definition and concept of `street children?, on which the present thesis was grounded, was researched and the information was given about the children who live/work in the streets, who were defined and grouped in line with the latest studies.The definition, history and types of graffiti technique, which was to be used in the rehabilitation of the children who live in the streets, were also dwelled upon.The universe of the present thesis is underprivileged children who live and work in the streets and in need of help. Setting is the Center for Children Working in the Streets, which operates under the auspices of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. Subjects are the children who receive support from this center.For the purposes the present study, a survey of 30 questions was developed. Then this survey was administered to the children who attend to the aforementioned center. After the process of administration, responses given by the children were transferred to SPSS tables and Excel spreadsheets for data analysis, which was done through the methods of percentages, frequency distributions and calculating means.In the light of the results obtained, some of the conclusions are provided below:1.Arts lessons given the childcare institutions are considered insufficient by the children.2.Children like painting graffiti and applying it to various surfaces.3.According to the views of children, graffiti has an important place at the childcare institutions and it should be taught in the arts lessons.In the final chapter of the thesis, some other conclusions are drawn and recommendations are presented on the basis of the results of the study. Suggestions are also made in this part as to further research possibilities and applications for the scope of the current thesis.
