Abstract (EN)
Mechanical instrumentation and irrigation are used to remove vital and necrotic remnants of pulp tissue, debris, microbiata and their by-products from a root canal system. The risk of apical extrusion of the debris or irrigant is notable because of causing postoperative pain, swelling, and significant tissue damage. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the postoperative pain after the use of two different irrigation methods. In total, 90 teeth were approved for the present study. The included teeth were divided into 2 treatment groups (control and Vibringe group) by selection of cards. A crowndown preparation technique was performed by using nickel-titanium rotary instruments. During instrumentation procedures, the root canals were irrigated with 3 ml, 2% NaOCl. For final irrigation, 3 ml NaOCl and 3 ml sterilized saline was used and the needle was introduced 2 mm short from the working length for a period of 1 minute per 4.6 ml. In control group, irrigation was performed by conventional method and in Vibringe group; irrigation was performed by sonically activated Vibringe device. After completion of irrigation procedures, all root canals were filled with gutta-percha and a root canal sealer. All patients were given a verbal descriptor scale for the evaluation of pain and used analgesics at 6, 12, 24, and 72 hours after the endodontic treatment. For statistical analysis, Chi-square test was used to compare categorical variables between the groups. In Vibringe system, the pain intensity was significantly higher than control group at all time periods.
