Abstract (EN)
The scintillation indices, kurtosis parameter and beam sizes of Finite Energy Fresnel-Bessel Beams propagating for 6 km in a turbulent atmosphere are analyzed. The results of the propagating beam in strong, medium and weak turbulence are also analyzed. It then investigates the effect of the beam, focusing on both point and power scintillation. The performance of the emitted beam is analyzed by varying the parameters Fresnel number, Bessel function and beam radius. The results show that the Bessel function does not have a significant effect on the scintillation levels. Finite energy Fresnel-Bessel beams can reduce the power scintillation levels and improve the system performance better than basic Gaussian beams. Therefore, the results obtained are important not only for improving the performance of free-space optical communication systems, but also for applications requiring line-of-sight alignment, i.e. directed infrared countermeasures. The results presented on both the kurtosis parameters and the beam size show that the profiles of Finite Energy Fresnel-Bessel Beams change to a Gaussian-like profile as they propagate along longer links. At longer links, higher order Finite Energy Fresnel-Bessel Beams are sharper than lower order beam radius. However, Finite Energy Fresnel-Bessel Beams with higher Fresnel numbers are flatter than those with lower Fresnel numbers. On the other hand, beams of higher order and larger radius are less diffuse.
