Sorcery on screen: Unveiling the veil of black magic and itsinterface with islam and beyond: A study of Abdelhamid Bouchnak's film "Dachra"

As black magic has emerged as a major concern, particularly in Arabic countries, various films have attempted to increase public awareness about this issue. While Tunisia has experienced the prominence of this phenomenon in recent years, it wasn't until 2018 that it received significant attention in the country's media. Tunisian filmmaker Abed Alhamid Bouchnak addressed this pressing issue in his film "Dachra," he takes audiences on a chilling journey into the heart of darkness, exploring the intricate web of black magic practices and their relation to Islamic traditions. this study seeks to evaluate how "Dachra" fits within the broader landscape of Islamic horror cinema, superstition, and fear. using both aesthetic and technical analyses. The second part of the thesis will focus on the film's primary concern, black magic, delving deeper into its portrayal and implications. To enhance the reader's comprehension of the film's central subject, the study also includes relevant information about Tunisia's socio-historical background.
