Abstract (EN)

This study, the primary 6. Social Studies class "country resources" unit that taking advantage of statistical and graphical techniques in use and that it tried to determine the effect of students' ability to read graphics.This research, elementary school in the town of Darica - Kocaeli Ayfer Gazanfer Güngör 2010 -2011 academic year was conducted in the second period. Experimental method has been used to study two groups of experimental and control groups were. These groups have a homogeneous structure composed of 30 students. Achievement test administered to students.In conclusion, the quantitative data were evaluated using the computer program SPSS.As a result of research, 2010 to 2011 in social studies education techniques in teaching students to use statistical and graphics significant difference was found that examined the effect of reading ability. As a result of research achievement test in reading skills between the groups in terms of graphics was a significant difference in favor of the experimental group.Researching the teaching of social studies students in statistics and graphics that the students use graph techniques to read, understand, interpret and evaluate the effects of routine skills in line with the findings and suggestions were given.
