Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge and usage of Social Studies teacher candidates about technology. Technology literacy scale was used in the study to determine the technology literacy status of Social Studies teacher candidates. Within the scope of the scale, there are 5 categories: skills for technological life, nature of technology, designed world, design, technology and society. The study group of the study consists of teacher candidates studying in the 2019-2020 academic year. The study group of the quantitative department is 832 social studies teacher candidates in the third and fourth grade. The study group of the qualitative part of the research consists of 19 Social Studies teacher candidates in the third and fourth grade. Technology literacy status of the participants was investigated by looking at nine demographic variables. In the qualitative part, a semi-structured interview was conducted to determine the participants' views on technology literacy, the relationship between technology and education, and the importance of technology in education. According to the findings obtained in the quantitative part of the study, it was found that the participants were above the middle score in all dimensions. According to the findings obtained in the qualitative part of the research, it can be proved by the participants stating that they can generally provide education using technological tools and that the classroom environments they will create will be technology-oriented classes. They also impressed that technology is very important in education.
