A research on the relationship between social intelligence and cultural intelligence with transformational and transactional leadership

The aim of this thesis is to explain how the sub-dimensions of social intelligence and cultural intelligence are related to individuals' leadership styles. As a result of the literature review conducted for this purpose, the model and hypotheses of the research were formed. In order to measure leadership styles, social intelligence and cultural intelligence The Multi-Factor Leadership Scale, Tromso Social Intelligence Scale, and Cultural Intelligence Scale were conducted respectively. Data collected through survey and analyzed by descriptive and explanatory statistical analysis. "Multi-Factor Leadership Scale was distributed under 4 dimensions unlike the original dimensions. These new dimensions were named by the researcher as; "transformational and transactional leadership", "transformational leadership", "management with exceptions and laissez-faire type leadership" and "charisma/inspiration type leadership". When the findings of the research are examined, it is seen that cultural intelligence has a statistically significant and positive effect on each leadership style while social intelligence has a statistically significant and positive effect on only transformational leadership and charisma/inspiration type leadership. It is determined that social skills, and metacognitive and cognitive cultural intelligence have significant and positive relationships with each leadership style. Social intelligence by itself and its sub dimensions social awareness and social skills have significant and negative relationships with management with exceptions and laissez-faire type leadership. Results differ according to all demographic characteristics except educational level.
