Abstract (EN)

The application of fieldbuses in automation and control systems are increasing steadily.Flexible configuration and inexpensive installation costs provide fieldbus systems anextensive usage in industry. In this thesis, the automation of welding machines in SWP (SpiralWelded Pipe) production is applied using DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP.This thesis first introduces the general automation system topology and presents briefinformation about its development in the first chapter. The next chapter includes theapplication and benefits of fieldbus systems in automation industry. It also introduces severalkinds of fieldbus systems used in the area. Details of DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP have alsobeen examined in this chapter. The last chapter of this thesis is about the welding automationapplication in SWP (Spiral Welded Pipe) production. Welding machines, instrumentationdevices, touch screens and controller program are explained; advantages of fieldbuses inautomation systems during this project are also observed and presented in this chapter.As a result, fieldbuses simplify the usage and configuration of automation systems, providessystem integration and effectiveness with its contribution to diagnostic and fault sensingprocesses.
