Abstract (EN)

Objective : In this study, it is aimed to study the importance of the learning approaches of the students in the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the concepts of achievement goal and to examine the relationship of these concepts with each other. Materials and Method: the population of the study consists of the Aegean University and Celal Bayar University in the cities of İzmir and Manisa in 2018-2019, and the sampling of the study consists of a total of 938 students, 292 women and 646 men, educated in three different departments of the Faculty of sports sciences of these universities (physical education and sports teaching, sports management and coaching teaching). In the study, the students were applied personal information form arranged by the researcher, 2X2 Achievement Goal Orientation scale, Study Process Questionnaire and Five Factor Personality Inventory short form. Findings: Considering the step multiple regression analysis results performed for achievement goal and study process in terms of its prediction of sub-dimensions of Five Factor Personality Inventory, learning orientation was found to be the most important determinant of the performance orientation structure, while performance orientation structure was found to be the structure that explains the emotional stability sub-dimension of performance orientation. Conclusion: the individuals with personality traits of agreeableness, conscientiousness, and intelligence/imagination were found to use learning orientation more, while those with personality disorders of emotional stability were found to adopt performance orientation more.
