Determination of the management styles the ggeneral directorote of Sport in The Central Organization

This study aims to determine the perceptions of administrators and other personnel on management mentality and management styles in the control committee of the General Directory of Sports Connected to the Ministry of Youth and Sport, to investigate impacts of their perceptions to management styles and to compare the perceptions on management styles of administrators to those of other personnel.The target population of this study was approximately 900 personnel including administrators and other personnel. The sample of this study was determined through Random method. The sample group was 355 personnel who voluntarily attended the study (66 administrators and 289 other personnel)The scale which was developed through the information collected by the experts was used as the data collection tool. While item-total correlation and lower and upper quartile tests were used in the analysis of reliability, factor analysis and internal-consistency analysis tests were used in the analysis of validity. Five factors? (authoritarian, protective, supporter, unionist, laissez-faire) effects which were found to take an active role in determining of management styles in the factor analysis were studied.After the obtained data were entered into the computer, statistical analyses were carried out via SPSS program. With regard to analysis of the data, the data analysis techniques such as arithmetic average, percentage, standard deviation tests, t test and one-way analysis of variance were used.According to the results, considering all of the attendants, % 44,5 of the participants were female personnel and % 55,5 were male personnel, % 40 of the participants were at the between 26-35 age, % 72,4 were university graduates. It was reported that % 36,1of the participating personnel attended the training for more than one service, % 43,9 had 0-5 year term of Office. Moreover, when administrators and other staffs? perceptions on management styles were evaluated according to descriptive statistics, it was found that the supportive management style was mainly performed.According to the results of the study, considering the administrator and other staffs? perceptions, it was reported that the protective, supportive and unionist management mentality rather than the authoritarian and laissez-faire management mentality was performed in Control Committee of the General Directory of Sport. It was also found that both groups perceived these styles in the same way and there was a parallel between the administrators? practices and styles which were performed in the Control Committee of the General Directory of Sports and Youths according to other personnel. From this point of view, it can be said that there are semi-democratic and democratic management mentalities in the Control Committee of the General Directory of Sports.Key Words: Sports Administration, Management Styles, the Control Committee of the General Directory of Sports.
