Abstract (EN)

Today, metals are used in almost every field. Especially the usage areas of St37 steel have an important place. However, this metal suffers serious losses in its mechanical and physical properties due to corrosion or wear over time. In order to prolong the life of this metal, it may be more economical and useful to improve only the surface properties instead of expensive methods such as alloying. In this context, surface engineering methods are used to improve the properties of the material. One of these methods is thermal spraying methods. The thermal spraying method is an economical and time-saving method for the production of materials, equipment or machine parts to be used in applications where high resistance to damage mechanisms such as corrosion, erosion and wear is required. Different coatings can be applied to achieve the desired properties. In this thesis, by using thermal spraying methods to improve the surface properties of St37 steel, which is used in many fields such as industry, machinery manufacturing, energy, transportation, rail systems; A total of 6 (six) different coatings, namely Tungsten Carbide, Zirconium Oxide, Chromium Oxide, Chromium Carbide-Nickel Chromium and Aluminum Oxide-Titanium Oxide (60-40% and 87-13%) in different ratios, were applied and these coatings were used for micro hardness measurement, wear test, scratch test and structural analyzes (XRD and SEM) were applied. Analysis results of untreated and different coatings applied St37 steel samples are given in comparison with each other.
