Abstract (EN)

Today?s formation of music is highly dependent on the fact of understanding the music generated previously. In the music history it is observed that, the musical forms and ideas have been improved from the point of view of the both compositional techniques and the aesthetics background with the help of analyzing process of the musical works generated through the ages. Basically analysis has a great role to understand of the background of creation process in music. Analysing have the same importance for the composer during composing process. In this study one of the most prominent work of the Twentieth century Stravinsky?s The Rite Of Spring is analyzed using pitch class sets which is a very important contemporary analyzing technique. With this technique, the each movement of the first part of the work has been scrutinized and every set has been found. Afterwords, the sets have been interpreted in order to understand the harmonical structure of the music. Meanwhile, in order to specify the importance of the technique which is used in this thesis, the other musical analyzing methods have been surveyed.
