Abstract (EN)

m ABSTRACT In this study, an inquiry was applied to examine the effect of cold deformation on the hardness and grain growth of Al-5% Si-0.2% Mg (A1Sİ5) and Al-7%Si-0.7%Mg (A1Sİ7) matrix composites reinforced with SiC particles of 10, 20 vol. %. Before this process, The compo-cast ingots were cold deformed. The cold deformed samples were examined for micro-structural analysis, hardness and grain growth at different temperatures and times. The porosity level in A1Sİ7 was high according to A1Sİ5 matrix. This problem was degreased with the extrusion and cold deformation process and the density of composites were increased. These porosity's was caused increasing of hardness and reducing of grain size of SiC particles. The cold deformation and annealing process were carried out successfully. After cold deformation, the hardness was increased but the grain growth of SiCp were degreased. The recrytallization was applied to the cold deformed samples. With this annealing, the hardness was degreased but the grain size of SiCp were increased. The increasing of annealing time was caused reducing in grain size of SiCp.
