Abstract (EN)
The Offence of Money Laundering that is set out in Article 282 of Turkish Criminal Code has a quite complex structure. In order for this offence to be committed, a predicate offence must initially be committed, and then the proceeds of such predicate offence must be laundered by transferring the proceeds abroad or subjecting them to certain transactions. In this paper, in order to help the reader comprehend the subject matter in a better way, the concepts pertaining to laundering of proceeds from crime, stages and techniques of laundering, and the history of laundering have been explained before examining all the above-mentioned laundering processes. Then, the paper examines how the offence of money laundering is regulated in the context of international law as well as Turkish law.
