Abstract (EN)

The study examines five different manuscripts of the Qur'an belonging to the 18th and the 19th centuries found at the Suleymaniye Library in terms of book art. Manuscripts in the study were meticulously selected and regarded worthy to be included. The thesis includes four chapters: The first chapter consists of information about book arts such as illumination calligraphy, bibliopegy, miniature craft and marbling art. With direct relation to the topic, the second chapter gives information on manuscript and decorating of the Qur'an. The third chapter focuses on the description and the history of Suleymaniye Library and also the analysis of five different manuscripts of the Qur'an found at the library. Providing the inventory numbers of the studied manuscripts of the Qur'an, they were evaluated in respect to the aspects of pattern, colour, motive and bibliopegy. In the fourth chapter, the manuscripts which were examined with the properties of their times were analysed within their own times and were compared to the samples of their times.
