Comparative analysis of legislations on energy efficiency of buildings from the world and Türkiye within the context of sustainable architecture

In this thesis, the regulations and legislative practices in Türkiye are evaluated within the framework of sustainability and energy efficiency in the context of architecture. Through out this research, the practices in Türkiye, Germany and England are compared in order to determine the differences in the regulations and legislations. For this, the practices of the existing methods in Türkiye and other countries and the regulations they are based on are examined. Based on these differences, it is discussed how innovative approaches can be used in Türkiye. In this context, it is aimed to determine the strategic steps required to increase sustainable energy use and ensure energy efficiency in Türkiye. In order to achieve this, the implementation of sustainability principles in Türkiye based on legal obligations and suggestions are made for energy efficiency and improvement. The adequacy of the existing policies and how energy efficiency is taken into consideration constitute the focus of this research. Within the scope of the study, related cases are evaluated in order to understand the effectiveness of current sustainable energy application methods. In these examples, the applications in public buildings in the field of sustainable architecture in three countries, which are not affected by material boundaries, are discussed. In addition to these examples, the extent of how the guides prepared by the ministries in Türkiye can benefit the regulations is examined. These studies are of great importance in terms of analysing the development of sustainable energy policies implemented in Türkiye. In this study, concrete suggestions are made on the subjects where sustainability practices in Türkiye could be improved. Information are also provided on how to make the regulations and legislations more efficient within the framework of future sustainable building policies.
