Abstract (EN)

Permanent magnet synchronous motors are one of the most preferred AC motors in industry, automation, robotics and servo applications as they have technical features such as high efficiency, durability, high dynamic response, high power density and compact size. As with other types of electrical machines, the efficiency increase studies are carried out with optimization applications in permanent magnet synchronous motors. In the design optimizations of permanent magnet synchronous motors, many artificial intelligence techniques such as particle swarm optimization technique are used. In this study, firstly, design studies of permanent magnet synchronous motors in literature are examined in detail. According to the studies, it is seen that different situations are taken into consideration for stator and rotor. The main reasons behind each design improvement are; losses and heating problem is minimized. For these reasons, the preliminary analytical design of synchronous motors with surface magnets was carried out and the results were confirmed by Finite Element Method (FEM). Finite element analysis was performed with ANSYS MAXWELL program. Subsequently, the winding optimizations of the PMSM were improved by the particle swarm optimization technique. Finally, ANSYS Fluent Program was used for the control of the heating problems of the PMSM. Preliminary analytical design, optimization design, finite element analysis and thermal analysis results were found to be consistent with each other. As a result of this thesis, the design of permanent magnet synchronous motor was realized, particle swarm optimization technique was used for the improvement of the permanent magnet synchronous motor. Then thermal analysis was carried out and motor design process was completed. In this thesis, the change of important parameters such as performance and efficiency in motor design is examined and a study which is a preliminary preparation for the processes required for motor production is made.
