Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to identify the plant-parasitic nematode species and their distribution areas in agricultural fields across Idlib province (Ruj Plain - Arihah, Teftnaz, and Binnish districts). A total of 202 soil samples were collected, with 111 samples taken in April-May 2023 and 91 samples collected in January-February 2024. Plant-parasitic nematodes were extracted using a modified version of the "Baermann funnel method," specifically the "Petri method." Permanent slides of the nematodes were prepared, followed by measurements and identification. The study identified 27 plant-parasitic nematode species belonging to 2 classes, 3 orders, 10 families, 11 subfamilies, and 15 genera. Among the identified species, the following 19 species are newly recorded for the nematode fauna of Syria. These species are Amplimerlinius magnistylus, Coslenchus turkeyensis, Helicotylenchus conicephalus, Helicotylenchus digonicus, Helicotylenchus tunisiensis, Merlinius brevidens, Merlinius microdorus, Neothada cancellata, Paratrophurus acristylus, Paratylenchus hamatus, Paratylenchus nainianus, Paratylenchus sheri, Rotylenchus (Pleciorotylenchus) striaticeps, Pratylenchus gibbicaudatus, Rotylenchulus macrodoratus, Rotylenchus cypriensis, Trophurus impar, Tylenchorhynchus brassicae ve Tylenchorhynchus huesingi.
