Abstract (EN)
Although the problem of immigrants is the problem of every period, it has turned into a problem that includes many different dimensions with the process called 'Arab Spring' in the socio-political field, especially in North Africa, the Middle East and the Arabian Peninsula. In this context, it is known that the immigrant problem in Turkey has been the subject of many academic studies. In addition to this, the problem of immigrants has begun to affect social life and has made inter-individual interaction and communication variable. For this reason, the aim of this study, which focuses on hate speech against Syrian refugees who migrated to Turkey, is to review and analyze the role of new media in the spread of hate speech against immigrants and the perspective on Syrians in Turkey, where one of the biggest migration incidents has been experienced since 2011. In the study, the comments written under the news videos of BBC Turkish, DW Turkish and Euro news about Syrians published on YouTube were evaluated. As a result of the research, it has been determined that new media areas are effective in the production and dissemination of hate speech, that hate speech creates false perceptions in the society, that the policy and political institution are not questioned in any way, and that the only responsible and the source of the problem are the Syrian people.
