Chronicler sururi's dates, written in verse (p.151-250)

Various studies had been made on numerological calculations (abjad) which has an important place in turkish culture and civilization. Although Origins of abjad is very old art of abjad was widely used in Ottoman Empire by the following master poets ; Hızır Bey, Bursalı Haşimi, Dürrî, Seyyit Vehbî, Kamî, Kırımlı Rahmî, Nedim, Şakir, Raşid and Enderunlu Fazıl. But the art of abjad would be missing without the name of poet Adanalı Sururi. He is special because he applied too many abjad on different subjects.Life, art and works of poet Adanalı Sururi had been the subject of previous studies. Verses, referring dates in the poem collections/divan of Poet Sururi had been studied by different researchers. However first 50 pages of part one, containing 322 pages of abjad verses needed further study.In this study, reasons of some abjad verses (1-150) of Divan-ı Sururi (Poem collections of Susuri) has been studied. The divan-ı sururi is registered with no: 12036 in the Mustafa Yeşil Library of Kütahya Municipality. To have a certain idea about abjad and referring dates in the poems , which is an important part of Turk_Islam culture and civilization we have studied on Sururi who was an important poet and historian.Since they address to people's feeling literary texts are different from didactic texts, However this does not mean that didactic texts can not be educative and give hints about life. İt is a known reality that although it is a little part of literature , abjad (referring dates in poems) gives a lot of hints about life. Words which a man use give us idea about him/her, it is the same with the works of a nation to track hints of a civilization. In this respect we have tried to mention the social and political aspects of the verses in our study.Divan-ı Sururi which we have studied its first 50 pages is a valuable book in view of both literature and history. What makes Sururi famous is not only his ability to apply abjac but also his strong poem substructure. Futhermore we have seen that unlike other poets, applying abjad he had tried different methods to refer dates and he was able to refer different dates to same subject.In the first part of my study; life , works and literary personality of Sururi, in the second part; subjects and kinds of the dates, and in the third part; transcription of the studied parts has been given, and in the footnotes information were given about the related persons.
