Determination of milk production costs of dairy cattle farms a case of Bafra district of Samsun province

MASTER THESIS DETERMINATION OF MILK PRODUCTION COSTS OF DAIRY CATTLE FARMS A CASE OF BAFRA DISTRICT OF SAMSUN PROVINCE EMRE MOLLAOĞLU TOKAT GAZIOSMANPASA UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS SUPERVISOR: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilge GÖZENER In this research, the economic analysis of the dairy cattle farms operating in Bafra district of Samsun province was conducted, their milk production costs were calculated and the factors affecting milk production were determined. The data used in the study were obtained from the data of the questionnaire conducted with 107 farms selected by simple random sampling method. As a result of the research; the number of animals per farm was determined as 39.19 AU animal existence and the share of total dairy cattle existence in the cattle existence was found as 21.38%. In the farms examined, the rate of equity capital to the total capital was calculated as 99.18%, the rate of gross product to the active capital as 21.95%, the rate of operating costs to the active capital as 17.62%, the rate of outlay costs to the active capital as 16.45%, the rate of net product to the active capital as 4.33% and the rate of agricultural income to the active capital as 5.49%. Based on the average of farms, the profitability rates were found as 4.33% for economic profitability, 4.16% for financial profitability and 19.73% for profitability factor. In the farms examined, the total produced milk amount was calculated as 126.956.26 per farm and it was found that variable expenses constituted 78.05% of the dairy cattle production costs. The current dairy cattle existence of the farms was found as approximately 21.38 per farm and annual milk yield per cattle was calculated as 5.938.09 lt. When the farms were analyzed by groups, 1 kg milk cost was found as 1.33 TL in the average of the farms.
