Abstract (EN)
İn this study, the result of a series of experiments on externally post-tension strenghtening of T-cross sectioned reinforced concrete beams are presented. Post-tension is used both in construction of structures and strengthening of beams. But, there aren't enough experiments on this subject. Four T-beams post-tensioned with an external tendon were tested to failure to investigate the effect of initial post-tension stress on the beams. In this study, a new model where post-tension tendon is placed under the beams with steel plates is presented. The aim of the investigation was to see how initial post-tension stress effects the load-deflection behaviour, ductility and overall strength of beams. The results indicated that increasing initial post-tension stress, increases the flexural capacity of beams; but decreases the ductility.
