Abstract (EN)

Bolted unstiffened and stiffened extended end-plate moment connection types, which are bolted unstiffened, 4-bolted stiffened, and 8-bolted stiffened is a section of the Turkish Building Earthquake Code that came into effect in 2018. The applicability of these connection types was examined by using IPE, HEA, and HEB profiles, which are frequently used in structural steel projects. The connection types were calculated considering two different material grades, S275 and S355, for each profile type. As a result of the static calculations for specified column and beam profiles, the connection calculations were conducted based on the requirements for special and ordinary moment frames. This study aimes to provide a guidance on which connection type should be used for Bolted unstiffened and stiffened extended end-plate moment connection, considering Mpr (the probable maximum plastic hinge moment) and Vuc (shear force). In this study, three types of fully restrained bolted end plate connections are modeled for two different material grade.
