Rebellion movements in Yemen according to Tanin Newspaper (14 February 1911-11 December 1911)

Tanin Newspaper, which started its publication life on 1 August 1908 and was known for its closeness to the ideas of the Committee of Union and Progress, became a more influential newspaper in public opinion in parallel with the strong position of the Committee in the administration. Yemen, a geographically and strategically important region, maintained this position both before and after the adoption of Islam. Yemen, which was home to regional and tribal states such as Main, Sabaean and Himyeri, became a part of the Islamic state centred in Hejaz with the advent of Islam. The region, which later came under Ottoman rule, has been a place where state authority has never been fully established. Many rebellions that emerged due to different internal and external factors caused the state to struggle for many years. With the opening of the Suez Canal, the importance of the region in the eyes of the western colonialist states increased even more, while the feudal structure of the region made it easier for the westerners to control it. Especially in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Ottoman Empire, which was dealing with the British and Italian threats in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, struggled with rebel local leaders such as Imam Yahya and Sayyid Muhammad al-Idrisi, who had considerable influence in the region. In order to deal with their rebellions, Ahmet İzzet Pasha was sent to the region with wide powers. Although some concessions were granted to Imam Yahya with the De'an Treaty signed with him, the Ottoman government drew the most influential name of the region to its side and avoided the danger of being caught between several fires. Imam Yahya remained loyal to this treaty in the following period and sided with the Ottoman Empire during the First World War.
