Abstract (EN)
In Kars, which is one of the provinces where animal husbandry is most intense in Turkey, agriculture is also carried out to meet the need for grain due to the climate. In Kars, where there are large pastures, livestock is carried out in the barns during the winter months and continues with the pasture and plateau activities in the summer months. This dynamism and seasonal change in the production process of Kars has also enabled the development and vitality of the nature-human interaction in the production process. Therefore, the cultural development and change of the producer community has also been shaped according to this production process. Starting from here, the thesis study primarily deals with agriculture and animal husbandry in the example of Kars province and deals with the traditional knowledge systems established depending on production. Along with the functioning of traditional knowledge systems, its function for the social and cultural field can be revealed in this way. Thus, it can be seen how the experience and skills for the sustainability of production and life are operated within the traditional knowledge systems that have been experienced around production and transferred between generations. In this system, while communities realize the production movement, their motivation is not only the product. With the production movement, tangible and intangible cultural environment is also developed. In this way, the members of the community can also provide their social gains. On the other hand, the traditional knowledge systems required in this production process serve the human desire to know and convey for a sustainable life. However, especially after industrialization and urbanization, the perception of human need has changed rapidly. This change has also affected the systematic and holistic order in daily life. Therefore, environmental and social incompatibility has revealed a complex cultural structure. This incompatibility, which has emerged with the changing perception of needs especially in agriculture and animal husbandry societies, has had negative effects on traditional knowledge systems that will be reflected in various fields. While this study discusses the functioning and function of the traditional knowledge system in societies based on agriculture and livestock, it also expresses the reasons and cultural reflection of the aforementioned and changing perception of needs through traditional knowledge systems.
