vTHE EFFECT OF WIRE SPRAY ING PARAMETERS ONMIKRO STRUTME AND PROSITY OF THE STEELS(M.Sc. Thesis)Murat TAFRALIGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYJuly 2006ABSTRACTNowadays, wire spraying methods are used for fuel saving purposes inautomotive industry in order to improve wearing resistance, corrosionresistance and to obtain thermal barrier properties, to minimize the heat losses,to fill the worn out bearings and surfaces, where hardness and wearingresistance are required to be high. This method is continuously improved inparallel with the se requirements. In this study, AISI 1040, AISI 1050, AISI4140 steels have been coated with three types of wires Coded. I, II and IIIcontaining 0.6%C, 0.3%C, 0.5%C, respectively, by electrical arc wire sprayingmethod. The effects of ampere variable, spraying and wire maters, type distanceon microstructure and porosity as the of steels was investigated. Theexperimental results show that spraying distance were found to be an effectiveparameters more than the other parameters.Science Code :710Key Words :Different metals, Welding, Metal, Spraying distance, Wearmicrostructure ,Coating.Page Number :96Adviser :Prof. Dr. Cemil ÇET NKAYA
