Abstract (EN)
In the first part of the thesis, economic efficiency and natural monopoly have been evaluated. Then, market failures and anti-competitive results (e.g., Vertical Integration, price discrimination) of this type of market structure have been analysed. After this, efficiency of public-private ownership effects and privatization methods and objectives are taken into consideration. Having examined the theoretical backround, country practices have been analysed in the context of telecommunications sector. In the last part of the thesis, Turkish telecommunications sector, in particular Türk Telekomünikasyon A.Ş.(TTAŞ), has been studied and some policy recommendations have been made for the structural adjustment of TTAŞ.
