Abstract (EN)

Artificial intelligence technology, which has started to be used in many different sectors in recent years, is seen to be integrated into the way of doing business when it comes to journalism. This usage, which is especially preferred as text-based applications, creates a transformation in the field of journalism. In addition, the concepts of virtual reporter and robot journalism have entered our lives. This rapid change raised questions on the possibility of the journalism profession disappearing in the future. On the other hand, there are opinions that artificial intelligence is a useful technology in the field of news preparation, especially as it accelerates the research process. The purpose of this research is to examine the attitudes and comments of journalists who use artificial intelligence in their work towards this technology. Semi-structured interviews were preferred as the research method, and open-ended questions were asked to people who said they used artificial intelligence in different areas of television journalism, such as presenting, editing and design. The first thing that stands out among the findings is that the way artificial intelligence learns is through the reporters' own efforts. One of the first conclusions is that training should be provided for the correct and effective use of this technology, which will be a part of professional life, through institutions. All of the participants expressed positive opinions about artificial intelligence, which they said they used for purposes such as research and obtaining information in their way of doing business. However, risks such as reducing creativity and accustoming artificial intelligence to laziness have been highlighted. Regarding the future of the journalism profession, the vast majority do not think an extinction caused by artificial intelligence is likely. However, among the comments received, it is emphasized that legal regulations regarding the use of artificial intelligence are needed and that some boundaries should be drawn within the framework of professional ethics. In summary, with regard to the opinions of journalists who integrate artificial intelligence into their working lives, it is possible to say that it is preferred to continue using this technology despite concerns on issues such as reliability and ethics.
