Abstract (EN)

The Effect of Morale on Treatment Compliance in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Aim: The aim of the study is to determine the effect of morale on treatment compliance in patients with type 2 diabetes. Material and method: The research was conducted between March 2019 and June 2020 as a relational descriptor. The population of the study consisted of 551 adult type 2 diabetes patients who applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinic at Hatay Altınözü State Hospital and treated at the internal medicine service. The sample was determined as 121 patients with the sample calculation of the universe. To reduce the margin of error, 183 patients were included in our study. Patient Information Form, Philadelphia Geriatrics Center Morale Scale (PGCMS), Morisky Treatment Compliance Scale (MTCS-8) were used to collect the data. Results: Most of those included in the study were 50-65 years old, female, married, primary school / secondary school graduate, non-working, middle income, 6 months to 5 years diabetic, family with diabetes, using oral antidiabetic, no diabetes education, numbness / tingling complication are existing patients. PGCMS total score average of the patients was 7.77 ± 4.26, MTCS-8 mean score was 4.51 ± 2.44. The morale and treatment compliance levels of the patients were low. Conclusion: It was determined that there was a positive relationship between morale and treatment compliance, and treatment compliance increased with increasing morale level.
