Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to coat titanium alloys with PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) method. Titanium alloys are among the most preferred materials in the aviation industry due to their low density and high mechanical properties. In addition, due to its excellent corrosion resistance in the marine environment, it is highly preferred in divers and marine equipment. Due to its high biocompatibility and corrosion resistance, it is also used as a basic component of the biomedical material sector, especially as an implant material. However, titanium alloy has poor wear resistance, so surface treatment is required before it can be used in many applications. In this regard, coated titanium alloys are expected to exhibit higher wear and corrosion resistance. In this thesis study; TiAlN, AlCrN, TiSiN and TiN coating processes in two different coating thicknesses were applied to the samples using Ti6Al4V alloy as the main material, and the mechanical, metallurgical, physical and chemical properties of the coated samples were tried to be determined. During the determination of the mechanical properties of the samples, hardness and abrasion tests were applied to the samples. Within the scope of metallurgical investigations; X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical microscope analyzes were performed. Profilometer analysis was performed to determine the coating thickness and surface roughness of the samples. In addition, the samples were subjected to corrosion tests to determine the corrosion resistance of the samples. KEYWORDS: PVD, Wear, Corrosion, Titanium
