Abstract (EN)

The subject of our thesis are analyzes religious depictions and iconography in the paintings of Titian (Tiziano Vecellio). Four of the 59 paintings on religious iconography within the scope of our study are Jewish, others are works related to Christian iconography. Although the artist mostly adheres to iconography in his works, sometimes his individuality has gained gravity. Although Titian took place in the Mannerist Period, he had a different and important position in terms of Art History, by reflecting the Renaissance and Baroque Period features on his works. The Artist reflecting more than one style in his paintings, successfully blended the diversity and harmony of the colors that used in his works with his own talent. The spread of perspective and rational light based on optical observation throughout the work in the Renaissance, in the Mannerist Period, moving away from the Classical Renaissance understanding and giving deformation and exaggeration, in the Baroque Period, with the spread of Protestantism, the emphasis was again on religious works, with the influence of the Catholic faith, which wanted to keep the power again. After each work of the artist is introduced in terms of "factual meaning", "iconographic meaning and expressional feature" and "iconological meaning" in Panofsky methodology, it has been tried to determine its place in European Painting Art by comparing and evaluating among themselves and with the works of other artists.
