Abstract (EN)
Keywords: Heterocyclic compounds, sulfonamide, chalcone, thiophene Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an enzyme of the metaloenzyme class found in living organisms. Carbonic anhydrase has many isozymes and they are important therapeutic targets that have the potential to be inhibited/activated for the treatment of a range of disorders such as oedema, glaucoma, obesity, cancer, epilepsy, amyloid beta, leukemia and osteoporosis. Sulfonamide compounds are one of the effective inhibitor classes of the carbonic anhydrase. Therefore, it has been the focus of interest by many scientists in the literature. It is also known that chalcones and heterocyclic molecules have various biological and pharmacological activity. In this study, heteroaryl chalcones were synthesized from thiophenaldehyde and sulfonamide groups were attached to these compounds in two steps. The structures of all synthesized compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The thiophenchalcone derivatives containing this sulfonamide group obtained with high yields are expected to have many different biological activities, especially carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
