Abstract (EN)

The aviation sector is a significant component of the global economy, with airports playing a critical role in passenger and cargo transportation. The steadily increasing demand for air traffic necessitates the optimization of airport infrastructure. Taxiways, as one of the most important elements of airport operations, directly influence aircraft ground and air movements and are a determining factor in terms of fuel consumption, operational efficiency, and air traffic management. In this study, a cost-benefit analysis is conducted for the construction of an additional taxiway at Tokat Airport, one of Turkey's regional airports. The economic and operational advantages of the proposed taxiway—such as reducing aircraft ground time, decreasing fuel consumption, minimizing environmental impacts, and improving air traffic flow—are evaluated. By analyzing actual operational data, cost projections, and economic benefits, the financial feasibility of this investment is assessed. The findings indicate that the new taxiway would provide cost savings and operational efficiency for airlines, while also supporting environmental sustainability by contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions. Furthermore, increasing airport capacity and reducing ground delays are expected to enhance passenger satisfaction and strengthen the competitive position of Tokat Airport. The analysis results show that, under current conditions, the project is not economically feasible; however, considering potential increases in air traffic and emergency needs such as earthquakes in the coming years, the project may be regarded as a strategic investment.
