Abstract (EN)
METAMORPHİC EVOLUTİON OF NORTHERN PART (TAŞOVA-LADİK) OF TOKAT MASSİF The aim of this thesis is to reveal the evolution of Liassic-old rocks in the northernmost part of the Tokat Massif. Tasova and Ladik regions were selected for this purpose. In the Tasova region, pre-Liassic units are composed of low grade metamorphics and Middle Permian limestones, while in the Ladik region only Middle Permian limestones are formed. Tokat Massif is represented by the metabasic, phyllite, marble, calcroplite and metamorphic limestone mass in the metamorphic rocks. The metamorphic units of this unit have undergone metamorphism under greenish-blueschist conditions. The metabasites within the metamorphic rocks of the ocean are basalt-enriched, and the middle of the ocean is basalt, possibly representing the parts of the ocean. In terms of rock association, the metamorphic rocks in the north of Tasova are in the form of an accretionary complex. According to these data, the Tokat Massif is associated with the closure of the Tethyan Ocean along the active southern margin of the Lavrasian continent during the Permo-Triassic period. This feature can be correlated with the Nilüfer unit of the Karakaya Complex in the Sakarya Zone. Therefore, metamorphites in Taşova region, Agvanis metamorphites located in the east and the low grade unit at the base of Pulur massif are towards west. The limestones between the Liassic and the previous units are not observed directly in the two zones. These limestones contain abundant Foraminifera fossils that characterize the Middle Permian (Vordian-Kapitanian) age. In the earth sciences literature, it is generally argued that these limestones are derived from the southern continent Gondwana.
