Abstract (EN)

The main aim of this study is to assert whether current mass housing settlement designs have improved in line with the principles of environmental design when they are compared with previous stages of the settlement designs. In line with this purpose, three settlement areas have been chosen and they are compared in terms of principles of environmental design. In this stage, interrelationship between the structures, environmental compatibility of open areas and floor furnishing have been assessed; finally, transportation and accessibility among those settlements have been assessed in terms of being without barriers, standard and compatibility with the environment.First of the mass settlements being determined was build in the period of cooperative housing societies, prior to TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey); other two sample have been selected from the earliest and latest projects being carried out by TOKİ. The first and second of projects being selected was completed in 1980 and 2010, respectively. These mass housing settlements are compared according to the criteria being specified under 4 main headings regarding principles of environmental design and environmental design criteria.In order to determine precedence and weight of the parameters to be used in thesis analysis, a questionnaire survey was conducted with experts by using Delphi method. As a result of the survey, sorting parameters of the analysis has specified the grades. Analysis Results provides assessment of Mass Housing as a result of comparison being made according to specified criteria and whether those are complied with environmental aspects, standards and their compatibility with environment.Key Words : Urban Ecologi, Urban Design, Ecologic Urban Dedsign, mass Housing, Ecological Footprint
