Cyberfeminism: As a solution to gender inequality

Technological advances bring many changes and transformations for humanity. Cyberfeminism is a form of feminism that places a positive meaning on technological advances and believes that technological advances will liberate women. Cyberfeminism has expressed living things with a new species to solve gender inequality. This thesis dealing with the issue that gender inequality can be overcome with technological advances; it included contradictory and parallel views to cyberfeminist thinking. In the first part of the thesis, what is gender inequality and in which areas it has an impact is given. Next; feminism, its waves and various types of feminism are mentioned. All this enabled us to see the perception of gender inequality in feminism in general. By including the fourth wave feminism and contemporary feminism; technology and feminism relationship has been introduced. In the second part, the relationship between humanity and technology is discussed. Transhumanism and posthumanism are among the contemporary thoughts that offer perspectives that can be a solution to gender inequality. In the third part, cyberfeminism which offers solutions to overcome gender inequality, is discussed. It is thought that cyberfeminism, which is discussed separately with the views of the two main cyberfeminists, will provide a better understanding of the cyberfeminist ground. In the last section, criticisms against cyberfeminism are discussed. Technofeminist criticism, which is one of the feminist views and carries parts of cyberfeminist thought, is also included under a title. Thus, an attempt was made to answer the arguments of cyberfeminism and therefore the question of whether gender inequality can be overcome with technology.
