Abstract (EN)

The protozoan flagellate Trichomonas vaginalis is the cause of human trichomoniasis, the most common non-viral sexually transmitted diseases in the world.It is known that 5 million people are infected and 170 million people are under risk of infection with this protozoon each year throught the world.Although people are infected with T. vaginalis, sometimes there are no symptoms. Especially in men, infection is frequently asymptomatic.The aim of the study is evaluation of the microscopy, medium, serology and molecular biology methods to detect the Trichomonas vaginalis on women with vaginal complains gynaecology and obstetrics policlinic in the hospital of Firat University, and Sarahatun Women diseases hospital in June, July, August 2009T vaginalis were examined from the samples which were taken from posterior vaginal forniks during pelvic examination using the direct microscopic examination, giemsa staining, culture method and PCR. T. vaginalis were observed in 6 cases and we have found no significant relationships between T. vaginalis prevalence and age group, education level, occupancy, complains, the used toilet and contraceptive methods.In the diagnosis of T. vaginalis not only the direct microscopy, stained, culture methods but also the PCR increase the reliability of the result.
