Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of male flower amount used for pollination of female flower in the cultivation of triploid watermelon were investigated for fruit and seed yield and quality. As plant material, tetraploid ST 101 and ST 82 and diploid WL 92, WL 124, WL 134, WL 216, WL 259-B, WL 235 were used as parents. Plant height, main shoot diameter, number of nodes, leaf length and width parameters were investigated in order to determine plant development differences in tetraploid and diploid parents. Tetraploid parents were croossed with 1, 2 and 3 male flowers of diploid male parents and fruit setting values were determined. The amount of pollen production, viability and germination rates of tetraploid and diploid parents was calculated. Fruit yield, fruit weight, fruit height, fruit diameter, fruit skin thickness and total soluble soilds were determined. The yields of seeds extracted from the fruits were determined and 1000 seed weight, full seed weight and number, abortive seed number, embryo / seed ratio, skin / seed ratio, seed length, width and thickness and germination rates were investigated. According to research findings; plant height, number of nodes and shoot diameter WL 92 (260.56 cm, 32.83, 8.52 mm, respectively); leaf length and width ST 82 (22.22 cm, 23.67 cm respectively); fruit setting, fruit yield, fruit weight, fruit height, fruit diameter and seed thickness ST 82 x WL 259-B (63.10%, 7.62 kg, 2856.67 g, 16.70 cm, 17.61 cm, 1.97 mm respectively), ST 101 x WL 92 in total solible solids (8.99%), seed yield, testa weight and seed germination rate were determined in ST 82 x WL 216 (40.33, 1.12 g, 45.56%), 1000 grains and full seed weight, abortive and full seed number, embryo / seed ratio, embryo weight, seed length and width in ST 82 x WL 134 (55.12 g, 2.12 g, 40.33, 143.50 pcs, 43.70%, 0.12 g, 9.18 mm, 6.25 mm respectively), pollen viability in WL 235 (95.53%), in testa / seed in ST 101 x WL 124 (67.24%), in the amount of pollen production in WL 134 superiority was determined.
