Abstract (EN)

`Consumption? is becoming a dominating societal form in all of the developing countries and US as being at the first place. Television as being the most effective means, plays the most important role in the formation of consumer culture in two ways: Facilitating the conveyance of the transmissions of advertisements that are full of consumption ideals all along to the living rooms and constituting the program contents in accordance with the `consumer? values. This second one is notably important. Commercial televisions that are bound to `rating? system are being directed by harsh competition rules and struggling to be the `the channel that is watched most?. And this leads up to the presentation of programmes with more `sensational?, `striking?, `impressive? contents instead of `simple?, `plain?, `educational? ones. As it is known, since centuries world?s biggest demonstration is `wealth?. Even if the wealthy segment of society do nothing but being `rich?, they succeeded to draw attention since the centuries. Because wealth has always been presenting the colorful and splendiferous images. Televisions are conveying the colorful lives of wealthy people to the screen instead of `grey tone? of the poverty. Artists in tv serials are generally belongs to the high level of the society. Because of this, contents of the programmes play the role of a mirror that the television audience can make comparisons of their own mundane life with `wealthy? lives. If the image on the mirror causes discontentment then it is enough to wait for the advertisement zone? The advertisements will tell you which products to buy for making up the difference.
