Abstract (EN)

This paper starts with defining securities in their entirety and explaining their place in the economic system within a historical context. It later expands on the different taxation systems implemented on security gains by selected OECD countries including Turkey. These different taxation systems are focused on due to the increasing role they assume in relation to the capital movements, especially as the world economies integrate more and more firmly. Based on those evaluations it is concluded that; as countries establish their taxation systems they should try to clarify and simplify their taxation legislation and try to minimize the tax rates as much as possible in order to attract capital into their economies. Furthermore, some suggestions are made on the taxation of security gains in Turkey. The research is mainly based on the capital market legislation, taxation legislation and notifications. Moreover, books and published scholarly articles of different country origins are referred to.
