Evaluation of histopathologic features and some immunohistochemical markers in the cases of urinary bladder cancers diagnosed between 1992-2000 years in Turgut Özal Medicine Center

SUMMARY EVALUATION OF HISTOPATHOLOGIC FEATURES AND SOME IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL MARKERS IN THE CASES OF URINARY BLADDER CANCERS DIAGNOSED BETWEEN 1992-2000 YEARS IN TURGUT ÖZAL MEDICINE CENTER This retrospective study involved in bladder cancers diagnosed at the Department of Pathology, Inonu University Faculty of Medicine, Malatya, Turkey during an eight year period between 1992 to 2000. A total number of 91 materials from 81 patient (E/K:87/4=21.75) with a mean age of 63 (range 35-85) were evaluated. p27 index, Ki-67 index and other histopathologic prognostic features (tumor histologic grade, pathologic stage, necrosis, lymphovascular invasion, stromal lymphoid cell infiltration were assessed. After reevaluation according to WHO- 1999 classification system of urinary bladder tumors, the diagnosis are as follows: Papillary urothelial neoplasm of low malignant potential (LMPUN), 1 case (%1.1) Papillary urothelial carcinoma (PUC), 37 cases (%40.7) Infiltrating papillary urothelial carcinoma (IPUC), 19 cases (%20.9) Infiltrating nonpapillary urothelial carcinoma (TNPUC), 27 cases (%29.6) Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), 2 cases (%2.2) Undifferantiated carcinoma (INDCA), 5 cases (%5.5) The chi-square test and LSD test were used for comparisons between p27 staining and Ki-67 index and for prognostic variables including histological grade, 52pathological stage, lymphovascular invasion, necrosis and stromal lymphoid cell infiltration. In multivariate analysis with the chi-square test, it was significant pathological stage (PO.05), lymphovascular invasion (P<0.05), necrosis (PO.05), stromal lymphoid cell infiltration (P<0.05) and Ki-67 index (P<0.05), but histological grade (P=0.073) and p27 index weren't significant. In univariate analysis with LSD test, tumor histological grade was correlated with p27 index (P<0.05), Ki-67 index (P<0.05), lymphovascular invasion (PO.05), necrosis (PO.05) and stromal lymphoid cell infiltration (PO.05), but it wasn't correlated with pathological tumor stage (P=0.390).
