Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT With Lousanne Conference in 1923, while finishing the Ottoman era new Turkish-American relationships has started. Turkey and The USA started to improve their relations against to USSR. The USA has supported to Turkey against to USSR with Truman and Marshall after World War Two, also Turkey has fought together with the West in Korean War. It would be possible for Turkey membership to NATO after Korean War. After NATO, Turkey gave permition to use it's own bases to The USA. Cuban Missile Crisis, Concern of Cyprus, and Johnson's Letter in 1964, has damaged the good relations between Turkey and The USA. Despite of making better the relationships with 1969 agreement, Turkey's peace operation to Cyprus and America's embargo almost finished everything. New beginning started between Turkey and The USA with lifting the embargo in 1 978 and agreement in 1 980. With The Gulf War importance of Turkey was understood by Americans. American foreign policy in the Middle-East and economic and military projects in Turkey keeps the relations warm. Today the USA still use some bases of Turkey: Adana-incirlik, Diyarbakır-Pirinçlik.Balıkesir, Ankara-Belbaşı and Akıncı. Also NATO has two haedquaters in İzmir. When we examine the back, about fifty years, we can say that there will be no problem in the future between two countries unless Turkey is damaged.
